Ban Dangerous Food Additives from School Cafeterias

California just took a crucial step to protect children’s health by banning harmful food additives like Red Dye No. 3 and brominated vegetable oil from school cafeterias. These additives, commonly found in popular snacks like Hot Cheetos, are linked to a range of health issues, including hyperactivity in children, hormone disruption, and even cancer.

This is a fight between concerned parents and health experts on one side and powerful food industry lobbyists on the other.

We must urge other states to stand up to Big Food and follow California’s lead in banning these dangerous substances from school meals.

Experts have long warned about the dangers of these additives. As Dr. Jimena López, a pediatrician and public health advocate, notes, “Children are uniquely vulnerable to these harmful chemicals, and there is no reason they should be exposed to them in school cafeterias.”

The science is clear: additives like Red Dye No. 3 and brominated vegetable oil have no place in food, especially in meals served to kids.

The food industry lobbyists are already pushing back, but protecting children’s health must come before corporate profits. Kids deserve access to safe, nutritious meals at school, free from additives that pose serious health risks.

Let’s protect children’s health and well-being by banning dangerous food additives from school cafeterias nationwide. Sign this petition to demand that other states follow California’s example.
