Denounce Trump for Abandoning Kids With Disabilities

Donald Trump is dismantling the very systems that protect children with disabilities.

His administration just announced new agreements shifting core education responsibilities across federal agencies, including programs tied to students with disabilities and civil rights enforcement.

The Trump administration calls it “efficiency.” But families know what this really means: more confusion, weaker accountability, and another step toward gutting the Department of Education.

Children with disabilities deserve support, dignity, and equal access to education — not a president who treats their rights like red tape.

Students with disabilities rely on federal protections to get the services they are legally owed — individualized education plans, accommodations, therapies, accessible classrooms, and protection from discrimination. When those protections are scattered across agencies with less education expertise, children and parents are the ones forced to fight harder.

Millions of students with disabilities and their families already spend years battling school districts for basic support. A delayed response, a weakened complaint process, or unclear oversight can mean a child goes without speech therapy, classroom support, transportation, or a safe learning environment.

The Department of Education was created in part to ensure every child has access to education — not just the children whose parents can afford lawyers or private services. Weakening that mission abandons the very students the government should be protecting first.

Add your name now to denounce Trump’s attack on students with disabilities and stand with families fighting for every child’s right to learn.
