Don’t Ground Flights for Trump’s Deportation Agenda

The Trump administration is threatening to throw international travel into chaos to punish sanctuary cities for refusing to become arms of its deportation machine.

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin has floated pulling Customs and Border Protection officers from airports in sanctuary cities, a move that could jeopardize international flights, strand travelers, disrupt cargo, and damage local economies. Airlines and travel leaders are warning this would be a disaster.

Families, workers, tourists, students, immigrants, airline crews, and airport communities should not be punished because local governments refuse to help Trump carry out mass deportations.

Tell DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin: Do not ground flights, disrupt international travel, or weaponize airport staffing to advance Trump’s deportation agenda.

CBP officers at airports process international travelers and cargo. Pulling them from major hubs would not make anyone safer. It would create confusion, delays, cancellations, and economic harm in cities that depend on international travel and tourism.

The federal government should not use airports as bargaining chips. People should be able to travel for work, family, school, medical care, and major events without worrying that DHS will sabotage flights to score political points.

If DHS gets away with punishing sanctuary cities this way, it sets a dangerous precedent. Today it is international flights. Tomorrow it could be other basic services withheld from communities that refuse to fall in line with Trump’s agenda.

Add your name now and demand DHS keep politics out of airport security and stop threatening international travel.

The petition to Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin reads:

"Do not withdraw Customs and Border Protection officers from airports in sanctuary cities. Do not disrupt international flights, travelers, cargo, tourism, or airport workers to punish communities for their immigration policies. Keep airport operations running and stop weaponizing international travel for Trump’s deportation agenda."
