Trump’s Justice Department is preparing to send an unprecedented wave of federal election monitors to polling places — and according to media reports, one of them is a lawyer who pleaded guilty after illegally accessing election websites. David Michael Levin pleaded guilty in 2016 after he was accused of accessing restricted portions of Florida election websites. Now, according to media reports, he has joined Trump’s DOJ and taken part in a recent election-monitoring operation in Minnesota. That should alarm every voter in America. Federal election monitors are supposed to protect voting rights, not raise fears that people with records of breaching election systems are being sent into polling places under the banner of “integrity.” Tell the House Administration Committee’s Subcommittee on Elections and the Senate Judiciary Committee: Investigate who Trump’s DOJ is sending to monitor elections, demand full vetting records, and keep anyone with a record of illegal election-system access away from polling places. The DOJ is reportedly preparing to deploy about 1,000 monitors this fall — a historic number. But the public still does not know who is being chosen, how they are being vetted, or whether partisan operatives and election deniers are being placed in positions that could intimidate voters or undermine confidence in the results. Trump has spent years lying about elections, pressuring officials, and trying to bend democratic institutions to his will. Now his DOJ wants to flood polling places with monitors while refusing to answer basic questions about who they are. Congress has the power to subpoena documents, hold public hearings, and force DOJ officials to explain their election-monitoring program before voters are put at risk. Add your name now and demand Congress protect voters from intimidation, partisan interference, and anyone who cannot be trusted around election systems. The petition to the House Administration Committee’s Subcommittee on Elections and the Senate Judiciary Committee reads: "Investigate Trump’s DOJ election-monitoring program immediately. Demand full transparency about who is being deployed, how monitors are being vetted, and whether anyone with a record of illegal election-system access or election subversion is being sent to polling places. Protect voters and keep election hackers away from our elections."
