Make Big Oil CEOs Testify About High Gas Prices

Big Oil is cashing in while American families get crushed at the pump.

As Trump’s war with Iran sent oil markets into chaos, gas prices surged and working people paid the price every time they filled their tanks. But for the fossil fuel industry, this crisis has meant something very different: massive windfall profits.

Senators Elizabeth Warren and Sheldon Whitehouse are already demanding answers from major oil companies about why families are paying egregiously high gas prices while oil giants rake in billions. Now the full Senate must go further and force Big Oil CEOs to testify under oath.

Tell the U.S. Senate: “Hold public hearings and make Big Oil CEOs testify under oath about high gas prices, windfall profits, and whether the fossil fuel industry profited from Trump’s war with Iran.”

Gas prices do not rise in a vacuum. When global conflict disrupts oil markets, families pay more for gas, groceries, and everyday necessities. But oil companies can turn that same volatility into record profits, bigger payouts, and more power to lobby against accountability.

That is unacceptable. Americans deserve to know whether Big Oil used war-driven price spikes to pad profits, whether companies could have offered relief at the pump, and whether fossil fuel executives had influence over or advance knowledge of decisions that helped their bottom line.

An Oxfam report found that 41 energy industry billionaires in G7 countries saw their wealth grow by $23.5 billion after Trump launched the Iran war, while oil shocks drove up fuel prices and rippled through the global economy. Oxfam also found that the Big Six oil companies — Chevron, Shell, BP, ConocoPhillips, Exxon, and TotalEnergies — were projected to grow profits 80% above the pre-war forecast.

The Senate has the power to investigate. Lawmakers can hold hearings, subpoena documents, question CEOs under oath, and pursue legislation like a windfall profits tax to stop corporations from exploiting crises while families suffer.

But Big Oil has armies of lobbyists working to keep Congress quiet. Public pressure can make it harder for senators to look away and easier for lawmakers to demand the transparency Americans deserve.

Add your name now and tell the Senate: make Big Oil CEOs testify. Families deserve answers, accountability, and relief from corporate profiteering.

The petition to the U.S. Senate reads:

"Hold public hearings and make Big Oil CEOs testify under oath about high gas prices, windfall profits, and whether the fossil fuel industry profited from Trump’s war with Iran. Investigate corporate price gouging, subpoena relevant documents, and pursue legislation to protect American families from fossil fuel profiteering."
