No Trump Bibles in Public Schools

Oklahoma School Superintendent Ryan Walters has already made a name for himself as an anti-LGBTQ extremist intent on using state institutions to bully trans kids. Now he’s sparked outrage once again for a convoluted and deeply corrupt plot to use state money to purchase 55,000 Bibles…for schools?

According to the bid documents, vendors must meet certain specifications, and it JUST SO HAPPENS that the only Bibles that meet all these criteria are the ones being sold by Lee Greenwood. His “Bibles” have been endorsed by Donald Trump as part of a scheme to extort money out of his gullible fans, and he gets fees from the endorsement. Now Walters wants to funnel taxpayer money to Trump AND violate the separation of church and state by putting Bibles in every public school.

“The RFP on its face seems fair, but with additional scrutiny, we can see there are very few Bibles on the market that would meet these criteria, and all of them have been endorsed by former President Donald Trump,” Oklahoma Appleseed Center for Law and Justice Executive Director Colleen McCarty said. What a coincidence!

So just to do some quick math here, if each Bible costs $60 each, and there’s 55,000 of them…that’s $3.3 MILLION in taxpayer money. For BIBLES. From TRUMP. For PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
