Reject Trump’s Corporate Lobbyist Pick for Tax Policy Role

Donald Trump has nominated Ken Kies, a corporate lobbyist with a long track record of working for wealthy corporations, to serve as Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy at the Treasury Department. This appointment is a glaring conflict of interest, as Kies’s corporate clients stand to benefit directly from the tax policies he would oversee.

For decades, Kies has lobbied for massive tax breaks and loopholes on behalf of wealthy corporations and billionaires. Now, he’s poised to oversee the nation’s tax policy, where he would have the power to shape rules that could further enrich his clients while leaving working families to shoulder an even greater share of the tax burden.

Appointing Kies to this role would be like putting the fox in charge of the henhouse—it’s a recipe for even greater corporate greed and inequality.

Kies’s nomination represents a dangerous step backward. Progressives have fought for years to close corporate tax loopholes, hold billionaires accountable, and create a fairer tax system. Allowing someone like Kies to take the reins at Treasury would undo much of that progress and undermine trust in our government’s ability to serve the people.

We call on the Senate to block Ken Kies’s confirmation as Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy. The American people deserve a tax system that works for everyone—not one rigged in favor of the ultra-wealthy.

Sign this petition to demand that the Senate reject this deeply flawed nomination. Let’s stand up for fairness, accountability, and a tax system that prioritizes the needs of working people over corporate profits.
