Replenish FEMA’s Disaster Fund Before Hurricanes Strike

Hurricane season is here—and FEMA is nearly broke.

Thanks in part to our failure to address climate change, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is warning of a record-shattering hurricane season, with up to 25 named storms. Yet President Trump and Congress are dragging their feet while FEMA’s Disaster Relief Fund runs on fumes.

FEMA says it could run out of money in a matter of weeks. But instead of acting fast, Trump waited until June to request more funding. That’s a deadly gamble with people’s lives.

Even worse, Trump’s new FEMA chief has zero disaster experience and a history of partisan politics. He told staff he didn’t know that the U.S. has a hurricane season. As extreme storms threaten millions, the agency tasked with saving lives is understaffed, underfunded, and led by someone who inspires no confidence.

This is a disaster waiting to happen—and Congress must act now.

Tell Congress: “Fully replenish FEMA’s Disaster Relief Fund—before the next storm hits. Lives depend on it.”

We can’t afford to wait until after a hurricane destroys homes and communities. Emergency funding must be approved immediately to keep FEMA ready to respond.

Congress holds the purse strings. If they fail to act, Americans in the path of the next storm will pay the price.

Sign the petition and demand Congress take action to ensure disaster victims have the support they need, before the next round of hurricanes and natural disasters hit.
