Stop the FCC's Anti-Trans Warning Proposal

The FCC is currently considering a proposal that would weaponize the television rating system against trans and non-binary people. This means that any show featuring a character outside the gender binary could feature a warning designed to silence depictions of trans and non-binary people in the media.

This change in policy is a direct attack on the LGBTQ+ community, placing queer people on par with violence and suggestive language.

This is not the first time conservatives have attempted to weaponize the rating systems. In the 1990s, they tried to create a “homosexual content” warning in the wake of shows like Ellen and Will & Grace. Pro-equality forces stopped this rating change then, and we can do it again.

The FCC can make the recommendation, but it's up to the TV Parental Guidelines Monitoring Board to implement it. Join us in sending a clear message to the Monitoring Board: We demand you reject the “trans content” warning proposal.
