Stop Trump’s Saudi Arabia Nuclear Deal

Donald Trump is pushing a nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia that could fuel a dangerous new arms race in the Middle East.

The reported agreement could allow Saudi Arabia to enrich uranium for civilian purposes, even though critics warn that enrichment technology can open the door to nuclear weapons later. At the same time, the deal reportedly lacks the strongest international inspection standards needed to prevent abuse.

This is exactly the kind of reckless foreign policy Congress is supposed to stop. Trump should not be allowed to hand sensitive nuclear technology to an authoritarian monarchy without ironclad safeguards, full transparency, and real congressional oversight.

Tell Congress: "Block Trump’s Saudi Arabia nuclear deal unless it bans enrichment and reprocessing, requires the strongest international inspections, and protects the world from nuclear proliferation."

Saudi Arabia does not need its own enrichment capability to pursue civilian nuclear power. The United States has already negotiated stronger nuclear agreements with other countries that included tighter limits and safeguards. There is no reason Congress should accept a weaker deal now.

If Saudi Arabia gets a pathway to enrichment, other countries in the region may demand the same. That could make an already unstable Middle East even more dangerous and put civilians, U.S. troops, and future generations at risk.

Let's not forget that Saudi Arabia’s government also murdered Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018. Congress should not reward that same regime with a weak nuclear deal that risks making the world less safe.
