Tell DeSantis: Stop Suppressing Free Speech on Choice

In an alarming move, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis administration is threatening to prosecute media outlets that air pro-choice ads, claiming that they “mislead” viewers about Florida’s restrictive abortion laws. This blatant attempt to silence the truth is an assault on free speech and reproductive rights.

DeSantis’s administration has already filed complaints with the FCC against a TV station for airing pro-choice ads, accusing the ads of containing “false information” about Florida’s abortion ban. However, these ads simply highlight the harmful reality of Florida’s extreme six-week abortion ban, which is one of the most restrictive in the country. 

This effort to stifle pro-choice messaging is nothing more than a political tactic to suppress voices that don’t align with his anti-choice agenda.

As Slate points out, DeSantis’s strategy is a part of a larger push to restrict reproductive freedom in Florida, and he’s willing to go as far as prosecuting media outlets to silence advocates for choice. 

This kind of censorship sets a dangerous precedent for free speech and democratic debate.

We cannot stand by and allow Governor DeSantis to suppress free speech in the fight for reproductive rights.
