Tell our Governors to Refuse Trump’s Orders!

Donald Trump’s latest plunge into terrifyingly fascistic rhetoric includes a promise to use the United States military to go after his political opponents. 

“I think the bigger problem is the enemy from within. We have some very bad people. We have some sick people, radical left lunatics…It should be very easily handled by, if necessary, by National Guard, or if really necessary by the military, because they can’t let that happen,” said Trump in an October 13th interview with Fox’s Maria Bartiromo. 

Tell our governors to refuse Trump’s orders!

The freedom of political expression and representative democracy were founding pillars of our great nation — but Trump would throw them all away and replace them with the pillars of fascism all to further his selfish political ambitions and to impose a radical ideological agenda against an unwilling public.

This is a truly shocking escalation that makes his defeat in November all the more critical. But we must also demand that our nation’s governors make a pledge to protect our democracy and refuse any order from Trump to deploy the National Guard against his political opponents.
