Tell Republicans: End the Shutdown by Reforming ICE and CBP

By refusing to rein in Trump’s brutal immigration policies, Republicans have forced a shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security. 

Families are still being ripped apart. Our constitutional rights are being trampled by barely trained, masked ICE officers. And now TSA officers are missing paychecks, travelers are stuck in airport chaos, and our national security is being threatened.

It didn’t have to be this way, but Republicans have refused to come to the table and pass any kind of meaningful reforms. It’s time for that to change.

For years, ICE and Customs and Border Protection have been plagued by scandals: abusive detention conditions, unconstitutional searches, secret surveillance, and agents charged with serious crimes. Investigations and court testimony continue to expose a system where enormous power often comes with little accountability.

Yet Republican leaders want DHS funding with no reforms. That’s unacceptable.

If they truly want to end the shutdown, they must agree to real changes — including body cameras for agents, visible identification, stronger oversight, and clear protections for civil rights and due process.
