Anti-Muslim hate is erupting from House Republicans — and Speaker Mike Johnson refuses to stop it. Representative Randy Fine recently posted, “the choice between dogs and Muslims is not a difficult one.” Representative Andy Ogles declared that “Muslims don’t belong in American society.” And Representative Andrew Clyde called for Muslim U.S. citizens to be denaturalized. This isn’t just a few bad actors. A Washington Post analysis found that since the start of the year, nearly 100 Republican members of Congress have posted about Islam or Muslims — and the overwhelming majority of those posts were negative. But instead of condemning this rhetoric, Speaker Johnson has defended members like Ogles and refused to hold anyone accountable. It’s unacceptable. Tell Speaker Mike Johnson: “Stop harboring anti-Muslim hate in Congress. Condemn Islamophobia and hold members accountable.” When elected officials dehumanize Muslims or call for stripping people of citizenship because of their faith, it fuels real-world harm. Muslim Americans already face rising harassment and threats, and rhetoric like this makes communities less safe. The Speaker of the House sets the tone for Congress. Johnson can condemn Islamophobic rhetoric, support disciplinary action, and make clear that attacks on people because of their religion have no place in the House. Add your name now to demand Speaker Mike Johnson finally take action to end his party’s hate speech problem. The petition to Speaker Mike Johnson reads: “Stop harboring anti-Muslim hate in Congress. Condemn Islamophobia and hold members accountable.”
