Tell the GOP to Pass Disaster Relief for California ASAP

In a shocking show of partisan cruelty, Republican Congressmen are floating the idea of extracting political concessions in order to pass wildfire aid for California. Speaker Johnson confirmed to POLITICO that there’s “been some discussion” of tying wildfire relief funds to an extension of the debt ceiling, depriving Democrats of a key piece of leverage that they could use to obstruct Donald Trump's agenda. 

Disaster relief has never been used for political gamesmanship, but the incoming GOP Congress is making it clear they only represent certain Americans and have no compunction about turning everything and everything into an opportunity to get one over on their political enemies.

Rep. Warren Davidson of Ohio has already come out in favor of withholding aid ENTIRELY until the state “reforms its forestry management,” whatever that might mean, while Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso of Wyoming said “I expect that there will be strings attached to money that is ultimately approved, and it has to do with being ready the next time, because this was a gross failure this time.”

It is horrifying to think that the GOP would be willing to make Americans suffer just because they have a political axe to grind. Add your name and demand they do their jobs and take care of Americans in need, no matter who they voted for!
